I’ve set up this Blog because I found people wanted to ask questions about the film CAPTAIN EAGER AND THE MARK OF VOTH but didn’t know how to get hold of me. I can also use it to post links to related pages etc. One process I’m particularly interested in is how the film emerges into the public view. Captain Eager is a whacky sci-fi film that doesn’t expect to appeal to the broad masses… so how does it blast a course through the vast splodge of the film universe? If I find out the secret I’ll tell you.
Short Biog: I use to compose for film TV adverts etc (e.g. Blue Juice). But I wanted to write and direct. I’ve sold several scripts but CAPTAIN EAGER AND THE MARK OF VOTH is my first feature as a director.
Simon, I have two questions. I think the film was shot in 2002, but not released until 2008 – what is the story, if any? Second, you had a brilliant cast – are you chums with the Leafs, or was it just a normal engagement?
1. Yes, with extra bits over the next few years depending on Panvolkian availability.
2. Didn’t know the Leaves before filming. Do see them every now and then since. I was very lucky to get such a fab cast. They couldn’t resist the cardboard.
